Charlotte Folk Society Concert

Great Aunt Stella Center, Charlotte, NC

Jamie and Jamie and Amber take an exciting musical journey through Scotland, Ireland, and Brittany, evocatively reimagining Gaelic love songs, rustic peasant dances, and recounting mythic tales from the Celtic world.

At 5:30 prior to the concert, open jam sessions for bluegrass, Celtic, and songs will take place on the premises. A food truck will also be on site. Afterward is a reception to meet the artists.

Jamie is acclaimed throughout the U.S. and Great Britain as a leading performer of both traditional Celtic fiddle music and original compositions inspired by ancient Highland bagpiping. Jamie won the U.S. National Scottish Fiddle Championship, performed for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and presented a TEDx Talk on the value of music and arts in our communities.

Amber is a rising star on the vocal horizon. Her soaring, angelic voice brings to mind a fairytale-like quality in ancient airs and ballads. Amber's musical versatility sees her performing regularly with Jamie Laval, while also becoming increasingly in demand in the world of opera. She has performed major soprano roles with Utah, South Carolina, New Hampshire Piccola, and Greensboro Opera Companies and was first place winner of the South Carolina District Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. Amber made her first international appearance this summer performing in the magnificent Teatro Comunale in Bologne, Italy.
